Crime and Deviance: CCTV cameras deactivated

The UK has more CCTV cameras than the rest of Europe combined (6,000,000)but cash strapped councils are having to deactivate a number of cameras in a bid to save 2.6 billion.

There are currently 100,000 publicly operated CCTV cameras.

300 – the average number of times someone in a British city is filmed during the course of one day.

84% of Britons support the use of CCTV cameras.
